Ask your Designer: Let’s chat about how to elevate your brand on socials?

on brand ask your designer

Welcome to On Brand. This is my blog series where we work together on something you are struggling with. I recently received this question in my DMs. A lovely business owner recently shared she was struggling to integrate brand colours through her content, make her feed aesthetic and still reach her audience.

business owner sent a DM to Studio Monday about how to match grid with the vibes

Firstly, I want to acknowledge that this is something so many business owners struggle with. When you are building a brand, there is so much to focus on and it’s hard to know where your attention is best spent. If you are struggling with this, I totally see you. However, once you find your rhythm and learn to effectively leverage your aesthetic to build a sense of brand and resonate with clients, the momentum will only grow.

So to answer the question…

  1. Integrate a couple of graphic-based posts (feed or reel covers) to pull through brand colours. This enables you to start to build a wee bit more brand recognition and also start to establish those colours in your aesthetic. If you choose a reel cover, the content behind the reel cover can be exactly as it was filmed from the event, but by using a graphic cover, you can get the best of both worlds.

  2. Get strategic with your content and have different types for different purposes. To build out your aesthetic, integrate some more vibey imagery that contributes to the brand's feeling with pops of your brand colours. To showcase your work from actual events you’re at, keep the content as it is - this shows off your style and will be important for future clients to see. Not everything has to be highly curated, however, having a mix of content like this means you can still build an aesthetic even if your events aren’t necessarily ‘on brand’. Again, be intentional with the shots you choose to be your image covers to try to integrate the vibe where possible.

  3. Remember, the aesthetic isn’t everything. Don’t get too tangled up with feeling like you need to have the perfect feed. The quality of the content is what will resonate with dream clients, and it’s okay to not have it all figured out from the moment you start your business.
